What does a free sub account do?

  • Bidding never needs an account

    When a GC invites you through GeneralBid, you open the link, price their scope lines and submit. That stays free and account-free, whether or not you sign up.

  • Every invitation from every GC, in one place

    A free sub account collects the invitations sent to your verified email addresses: the project, the package, the due date, whether you submitted, and, once the GC awards, whether you won. You never see other bidders' names or prices, and they never see yours.

  • Your documents, current, once

    Keep your insurance certificate, W-9, licence, bond letter and safety record in your account with their expiry dates. They are shared with every GC that has invited you through GeneralBid, so you stop re-sending the same COI. We tell you this before you upload.

  • Text reminders, only if you want them

    Opt in on a bid link or in your account and you get a text before a bid is due, with the link to submit. SMS is only sent after you opt in. A GC can never opt you in, and replying STOP ends it.

  • Be found by GCs who need your trade

    List your company, trades, regions and certifications and GCs on paid plans can find you and add you to their directory. You get a public profile page. Unlist it any time; your invitations keep working.

  • Your numbers, not a sales pitch

    See how many invitations you received, how many you submitted, your win rate and which GCs invite you, by trade. Sub accounts are free, never billed, and never take a seat on a GC's plan.

Questions subcontractors ask

Do I have to sign up to bid?
No. The link in a GC's invitation works without an account, on a phone or a computer. The account is for keeping track across GCs.
What do GCs see about me?
A GC who invites you sees what you submit to them, as always. If you have an account, GCs who have invited you also see your profile and the documents you have uploaded, and a Verified badge once your email is confirmed. GCs searching the network see your listed profile: company, trades, regions, certifications, bonding capacity and your invitation count and win rate on GeneralBid. Never your prices.
How does my account find my invitations?
By email. Verify each address GCs invite you on, and every invitation sent to it, from any GC, is linked to your account. You can also claim an invitation from its link.
Does it cost anything?
No. Subcontractor accounts are free, and subcontractors are never billed.
