The scope lines

Ask every bidder to say, for each line, whether it is priced, included, or excluded. A line a bid never mentions is the one that turns into a change order.

Where rough carpentry bids differ

The gaps worth a written answer from every bidder before award.

  • Blocking for other trades: casework, grab bars, TVs and equipment, assumed to be someone else's.
  • Fire-treated lumber priced as standard where the code or the drawings call for it.
  • Hold-downs and hardware supplied by the truss or lumber supplier and installed by nobody.
  • Temporary protection and barricades left to the GC's general conditions.
